The presence of the Olympiacos delegation in the Brussels
meeting among the representatives of the European Multisport Club Association was
completed with absolute success. The "red-white" mission headed by
the Secretary General of our club, Christina Tsiligkiri, returned to Greece
having achieved to ensure the leadership of the major European sports programmes,
as all the proposals were accepted with enthusiasm by the other participants.
In the second day, Olympiacos participated in the
Erasmus+ Sport Info Day having developed contacts with a range of Organizations
and Federations.
The meeting started with the presentation of the
general objective of these projects and the general policy that European
Commission implements relating to the sport actions. The next section included
a discussion about practical issues of these projects such as the preparation
and the submission of the proposals, the selection of the possible partners
such as clubs, Federations and Organizations and the final decision about the
projects that will be implemented. Moreover, the participants informed about
that the financial management of the programmes and possible large and small non-Erasmus+
sport projects that European Commission is planning to develop.
During the meeting, the EMCA members, such as
Olympiacos, had the opportunity to network with different Organizations and
Federations interested in engaging with Erasmus+ sport programmes. It is highly
mentioned that the participants made positive comments about Olympiacos
proposals. They characterized our club as an important factor for the
implementation of European projects showing their desire to cooperate with it
in different future actions.
Next meeting of EMCA members will be held in Piraeus
in the next weekend (3 and 4 February). This meeting will be the official start
of the ‘’You’re Hope’’ project in which Olympiacos is the main Coordinator.
Christina Tsiligkiri, the General Secretary of
Olympiacos stated: ‘’Since September, a
great effort has begun by Olympiacos so as to participate in the programmes of
the European Union. Honestly, it is not the first year that we present and
submit our proposals. It is the third one that we participate in the European
Multisport Association (EMCA) through which the proposals are submitted and
implemented. In the past, Olympiacos took part in the ‘’Sport and Support’’ project
successfully. From the last year, we run the ‘’Sport My Way’’ programme in cooperation
with other partners and this year, we are the leader of the ‘’You’re Hope’’
one. In Brussels, Olympiacos made innovative proposals after meetings and
negotiations with other EMCA partners in the previous months and all of them
were totally accepted and promoted to the European Commission. In that way, we
pursue to be an important part of the programmes related to the development,
promotion and innovation of sport within the European Commission. The next few
months will be particularly important as we proceed with the ‘’You’re Hope’’
programme which officially starts with the kick-off meeting in Piraeus at the
next weekend. The next actions as well as the completion of the projects put
our objectives in a higher level. The main goal of Olympiacos is the best
possible assessment of the project which will strengthen the possibility of the
acceptance of the future proposals and projects that we are planning to submit
to the European Commission in the future.’’
